  Membership to UEDA

UEDA is a nonprofit membership association. Our members help steer our direction as we work hard to connect them with colleagues, new partners, and resources. Who are our members? They represent individuals, organizations, lenders, companies and government agencies working in community and economic development. Our 2009 Members included over 120 individuals from over 28 nonprofit organizations, corporations, government agencies and other entities.

UEDA will continue to focus on providing services and activities that benefit our membership. To learn more about our efforts, take a look at our latest newsletter UEDA Community News.

To become a member of UEDA simply click on the link to the membership form. Print out the form, fill it out and send your membership fee to UEDA. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at (414) 562-9904.

Besides events like the Annual Meeting and quarterly newsletters, UEDA members receive many other benefits! Visit the UEDA News page for the latest information on events and issues in community and economic development. Each month UEDA also sends out an electronic bulletin that features topics and information of interest to our membership. Along with our listserv, this “Monthly Member Bulletin” is a benefit only for UEDA Members.

MEMBERSHIP OVERVIEW
Networking, Collaboration and Policy Advocacy
UEDA is dedicated to the professional development of individuals and groups working in community and economic development. Our mission is to support housing and economic development initiatives that revitalize Wisconsin communities. With over 100 members, UEDA helps build capacity in the housing and economic development field through training, innovative solutions, advocacy and collaboration.

WHO SHOULD JOIN?
We invite you to become a UEDA member if you are interested in programming or advocacy for:

  • community development
  • economic development
  • affordable housing
  • revitalization activities

Our members represent a diverse and wide ranging professional sector. Most are dedicated to the needs of underrepresented or underserved communities. Members focus on people and communities and include: nonprofit community organizations, financial institutions, accounting firms, quasi governmental agencies, philanthropic foundations, and individuals. No matter the sector, all members want public service programs to be relevant, efficient and effective.

MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
UEDA strives to increase communication, coordination and collaboration within its community of members. Our programs focus on organizations and service providers that build affordable housing, work in community development, offer financial education, and support entrepreneurship through direct business assistance or commercial revitalization efforts. Since its inception, UEDA has initiated, facilitated and managed a number of roundtables, coalitions and collaborative working groups.

  •  Professional Training & Networking:  Your UEDA membership offers you the opportunity to participate in events and projects that help shape policy for community and economic development activities in central cities. All members receive a discount on program fees for UEDA-sponsored events such as the Annual Community Development Summit and the Quarterly Breakfast Series. These educational gatherings highlight pressing policy and management needs for community development work.

  •  Communication Tools:  All members are invited to participate in our free listserv, which allows members to quickly circulate job postings, policy alerts, invitations to regional and statewide training and policy workshops, and other communications to all UEDA members. Members also receive a copy of our quarterly newsletter, which is distributed electronically through the listserv.

  •  Innovative Solutions and Technical Assistance:  UEDA members have the opportunity to receive one-on-one technical assistance. Also, hour-long workshops, day-long events and week-long courses are offered throughout the year depending on the needs of the group and expertise gained. Whether applying for a grant, developing best practice standards, finding appropriate financing or legal assistance – we’ll help you get what you need to revitalize your community.

  •  Collaboration:  UEDA performs advocacy through the formation of affinity groups, which are action-orientated, rich learning environments. These groups can help build support systems for organizations, promote the integration of economic and community development planning, and help influence public policy in the field. UEDA members can get involved with groups such as Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), working groups of Community Development Corporations (CDCs), and Financial Education and Literacy Initiatives.

UEDA offers members access to professional training, technical assistance, innovative solutions, policy advocacy and collaborations. Members are entitled to reliable resources, expert pools, and a supportive voice.

There are three different types of membership:

  • Individual: $50.00 per year

  • Student: $20.00 per year

  • Nonprofit Corporation/Organizational: $150.00 per year (includes 2 staff)

  • Corporation/Government Agency: $350 per year (includes 4 staff)
