WHAT WE DO
|
OUR WORK
Since its inception in 1997, UEDA has continually supported individuals and groups in building their capacity to better serve their communities. Our program areas and services include:
- Membership: UEDA provides capacity-building
and information-services, as well as networking opportunities to
our members and partners. These include monthly newsletters, a
listserv and annual and quarterly events.
- Collaborative Projects: When significant
community and economic development issues confront the broader
community, UEDA is often asked to step in as an intermediary and
help facilitate efforts to address them. Examples include
Take
Root Milwaukee and the
Coalition for Advancing Transit; UEDA provides
staff and administrative support to these projects, facilitation
of meetings and coordination of projects and activities.
- Events: UEDA hosts several events for
members and partners including the Annual Membership meeting,
annual Community Development Summit, Community Development Brown
Bags, Quarterly Gatherings and UEDA’s Annual Fundraiser,
“Carnival Milwaukee.”
- Contracted Services: UEDA has provided
project management and fiscal agent services to organizations
and projects and has served as the Evaluation Lead to several
neighborhood initiatives.
- Technical Assistance: UEDA is a certified contractor for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Planning and Development. In that role, UEDA provides local technical assistance grants to Wisconsin agencies that work on developing and supporting affordable housing. Our work focuses on organizational development and capacity and is specific to the agency or need. We also work with other intermediaries such as Local Initiatives Support Corporation to provide technical assistance.
