What we're working on...
  • On Wednesday, May 9th, more than 50 individuals joined us to explore the concept of Community Wealth Building and hear from local leaders on innovative approaches they've developed to support community development efforts in Milwaukee. UEDA will be hosting two more Emerging Topics Series sessions this year, so SAVE THE DATES and join us on June 27 (10:30am-1:00pm) to discuss financial empowerment for people with disabilities, and in early October to explore social enterprises. Registration to open soon for summer session!

  • As a co-convener, UEDA is helping the National Community Reinvestment Coalition bring together local, state and national community leaders, financial institutions, advocacy groups and public officials on Monday, June 11 at the Reinvest Wisconsin Summit. Join us and hundreds of residents and practitioners who who want to close the homeownership gap, expand investment in underserved communities and combat the effects of gentrification. More info on sessions, presenters, and registration. Special discount opportunity available for current UEDA members.
    Contact jessica@uedawi.org for more information.

  • UEDA is inviting our members and partners to join our 'Color of Law' summer book club! Written by Richard Rothstein, the book lays out how federal, state, and local governments gave rise to and reinforced neighborhood segregation decades ago and how cities are still dealing with the consequences today. Sign-up here >>

  • Each spring, UEDA coordinates the publication of over 8,000 Money Smart Week (MSW) Milwaukee Resource Guides in partnership with over 30 community-based organizations and lenders in Milwaukee's financial services sector. Though MSW 2018 is over, these guides (published in English & Spanish) serve as a great year-round resource to share with your clients, networks, neighbors, family and friends. We still have guides available for anyone who is interested in distributing. Contact julia@uedawi.org to place a request. THANK YOU TO OUR 2018 MONEY SMART WEEK GUIDE SPONSORS: Byline Bank, Landmark Credit Union, Wells Fargo & Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.
