We hope this month's newsletter finds you and your loved ones home safe and coping as best as you are able through our current reality. At this time of uncertainty, we thought it important to share resources that we are aware of related to small businesses, individual health and safety, support for nonprofit organizations, and opportunities for engagement and education.

UEDA'S Covid-19 Resource Document and check back often. We plan to update it as new resources become available or as opportunities become obsolete. If you have something you feel should be added, please reach out to Jessica Wetzel (

Milwaukee residents are encouraged to request an absentee ballot online at or by calling 414-286-VOTE. For individuals who are not yet registered to vote, the sate of Wisconsin will re-opened online voter registration on Tuesday, March 24.

AARP Community Challenge Grant Open
The AARP Community Challenge provides grants to fund "quick-action" projects that can help communities become more livable for people of all ages. Applications are being accepted for projects to improve housing, transportation, public space, technology, civic engagement and more.

Safe & Affordable Bank Accounts
As the number of applications for unemployment compensation rises, it is important that individuals have somewhere safe to deposit these funds. Rather than waiting for a check or prepaid card in the mail, encourage your clients/residents to open a Bank On certified account where funds can be received via direct deposit. These accounts do not allow for overdraft, the minimum balance can be zero, and they allow holders to bills remotely. Some accounts can be even be opened up online, saving a costly trip to the check casher at a time when it is best to stay home. Visit the Bank On Greater Milwaukee website for a list of certified accounts available in the area.

We have many resources for small businesses and nonprofits included in our Covid-19 Resource Document. Please review this document for relevant information and resources. Please feel free to share with those who might not receive this newsletter.
