THANK YOU to the nearly 350 people who joined us at our biggest Carnival Milwaukee fundraiser in history! On Saturday, February 29, our guests enjoyed a unique selection of cuisine, live world music, and cultural dance performances all created by local businesses and performers. Thank you to our Presenting Sponsor, Associated Bank, our Royal Raffle donors, Food Tasting restaurants, and live performers for making this a successful and truly unique event. And congratulations to Layton Boulevard West Neighbors on receiving our Carnival Milwaukee Bridge Builder Award. Money Smart Week 2020 is set for April 4-11! UEDA's Bank on Greater Milwaukee Coalition is leading local efforts to empower people with the knowledge and skills to make better-informed personal financial decisions around saving, spending, borrowing and planning.

    Each year, we print over 10,000 Money Smart Week Resource Guides (English/Spanish) that are packed with information and resources for kids, credit building, personal spending plans, identity theft and more. Sign-up here to receive guides that you can share with your clients, residents, congregation, students or family!
Take Root Milwaukee's Spring Homeownership Fair is set for Saturday, May 3. This FREE event will connect attendees to resources than can help them buy, fix and keep a home. Attendees are encouraged to attend our workshop and sign up at the event to go on a Neighborhood Home Tours which will take guests inside of three homes up for sale to learn about down-payment, mortgage loans and the home purchase and purchase/rehab process. Forward Community Investments is accepting applications for their Game Changer Grant to support opportunities for small or start-up programs or initiatives. Apply by March 11!

Head out to Third Space Brewing on March 12 (4pm-9pm) when 20% of sales made will be donated to ArtWorks for Milwaukee!

If you are interested in the future of Southeastern Wisconsin’s transportation system and land development, join SEWRPC on March 18 for an open house to provide feedback on VISION 20250.

Dominique Samari of P3 Development Group recently discussed her personal journey and self-reflection on racial equity and inclusion work with the Management Information Exchange Journal.

Join the YWCA Southeast Wisconsin on April 23 for their annual Circle of Women event - a celebration of the power of women’s vision to improve individual lives and the community as a whole.

Cardinal Stritch University's Mission Fuel nonprofit accelerator program launched their third cohort, which includes UEDA members BizStarts, Menomonee Valley Partners, and Public Allies Milwaukee.

The Latino Chamber of Commerce of SE Wisconsin is offering a new Blue Print Reading class designed to help carpenters and other contractors express themselves and interpret plans.

MSO Performances for Housing Instability
Join the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra on March 28 for a performance of 'Emergency Shelter Intake Form' to help raise funds to establish a new Rental Housing Resource Center that will assist those experiencing housing instability. This piece tells the story of becoming and confronting homelessness, culminating in a performance by a choir of community members directly touched by homelessness and eviction. Tickets are free but attendees are encouraged to make a donation to Community Advocates to help with the creation of the center.

Mayor Barrett’s 2020 State of the City Speech

Housing Bills Aim to Improve Employment Access
The Wisconsin Realtors Association and state legislators are pushing for policies that will make it cheaper to build new housing - particularly near where job are located - by offering more public incentives.

$29M Planned To Clean Up Milwaukee Estuary
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Environmental Protection Agency are working with local officials to remove contaminated sediment from the estuary, which has been polluted for more than 30 years as a result of Milwaukee's manufacturing history. Learn More >>

Member Spotlight

Wisconsin Community Services works with our community's most stigmatized and marginalized residents. In addition to serving those returning to the community after incarceration, WCS serves individuals who live with chronic and persistent mental illness, those with alcohol and drug addictions, and high risk youth and adults.

Community Building Workshops
WCS is hosting workshops in March, April and October designed for mental health professionals, psychologists, social workers, licensed professional counselors, teachers, youth development professionals, police officers, pastors, etc., to learn about the principles, practices, and stages of Community Building.
