Self-Evaluation is an important tool for nonprofit organizations.
When nonprofits get into difficult situations, it can be a
bumpy ride to recovery. UEDA
is there to help guide your organization through the improvement
process.
Many troubles start with one or more of these
indicators. Recognizing
these warning signs should give a board or staff concern:
Problematic
Financial Indicators are not limited to:

Inconsistent financial reports at board meetings
·
Poor communication between Treasurer and staff
·
Board doesn’t ask questions about financial
statements
·
Revenue less than expenditures
·
Withholding taxes are remitted on time
·
Board fails to address persistent cash flow problems
·
Agency has few, if any cash reserves
·
Reporting deadlines are missed
·
Agency looks to restricted accounts to pay operating
expenses
Concerning
organizational issues are not limited to:
·
Board provides insufficient oversight of operations
and projects
·
Staff does not communicate effectively with board
leadership
·
Scheduled meetings get cancelled
·
There is no continuity of Board leadership
